Pharmacological properties: Testosterone propionate has a specific androgenic effect: it stimulates the development and function of the external genitalia, prostate gland, seminal vesicles, and secondary sexual characteristics in men (voice, hair). Participates in the formation of the constitution of the body and sexual behavior in men, enhances libido and potency, stimulates spermatogenesis. Reduces the production of luteotropic and follicle-stimulating hormones. Testosterone is an antagonist of female sex hormones - estrogens, has antitumor activity in breast tumors in women. Has an anabolic effect, which manifests itself in stimulating protein synthesis, reducing fat deposition, delaying the body's necessary potassium, phosphorus, sulfur, calcium fixation in the bones and increasing muscle mass.

Indications for use: Substitution therapy for primary and secondary hypogonadism, eunuchoidism; Impotence of endocrine genesis, post-stroke syndrome, male menopause;Infertility due to impaired spermatogenesis, oligospermia; Osteoporosis caused by androgen deficiency; mammary cancer;Menopausal disorders in women in combination with estrogens); Dysfunctional uterine bleeding with hyperestrogenism; Mastopathy, accompanied by premenstrual painful tension of the mammary glands; Endometriosis, uterine fibroids.

Contraindications: Prostate cancer or breast cancer in men, a liver tumor at present or in history, severe liver dysfunction, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, untreated congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease.

Side Effects: Dizziness, increased sweating, headache, nervousness, depression. Various skin reactions, including acne, seborrhea, baldness, itching.

Interactions with other drugs: When combined with substances that are inducers of microsomal liver enzymes (barbiturates, rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenylbutazone, phenytoin), the effect of testosterone may be weakened. With pronounced testosterone hypogonadism, propionate can be combined with thyroid stimulating drugs, estrogens.

Overdose: When using the drug in elevated doses or for a long time, the side effects described in the corresponding section may develop.
